WELCOME TO THE ETEE CLUB

Black Lives Matter

We stand in solidarity with black people around the world.  And we want to do more to help, but we’re not sure how.

We’ve spoken with some of our African-Canadian teammates and they’ve told us of how they have come to accept a fear, even here in Canada, that people of European descent just don’t experience.

This has to stop.

If you have some ideas, please share them in the comments below.  One of the best things I've heard in the last several months is to listen and learn.  We are all ears.

  • Whilst I fully sympathise, my country has these problems also but I hope and pray our country respond to equal rights for all.
I realise this no help but you have my sympathy and I would sign any poll you would want to send!

  • You can have your staff take implicit bias tests such as those developed by Harvard to better understand unconscious assumptions.

  • “I hate racism but what can I do?” Perhaps it’s worth noting two very important things: the incarceration rates for people of color and the lack of incarceration for those cops who are violent offenders. Both begin and end in the justice system, in the courtroom, decided by juries and influenced if not misled by judges. So be an activist by serving on juries when called, and culling judges who are serving the interests of bias above justice. Nothing we do or say will have meaning if the justice system is not repaired.

  • Hey, I am a white person, and one of the things I’m doing is seeking out black owned companies to spend my money with. Since you already carry some products made by other companies, it would be a great choice to seek out and partner with black entrepreneurs who are making sustainable products. I would be delighted to buy things like that through you guys.

  • As a company, you can create affinity groups for your Black employees, train your white staff in anti-racism work as not only part of on-boarding but an annual workshop.
