Should We Use Compostable Stickers?

Thanks for your input.  So here are the questions I was hoping you could answer in the comments below.
  1. If you removed a lip balm cap sticker what would you do with it? (And let's assume you didn't know it was compostable, because it's hard to make it obvious that it is).
    • put it in the garbage?
    • put in in your commercial compost bin (and do you even have access to a commercial compost bin because you can't compost these in your backyard)?
  2. If you were us would you?
    • buy the cheaper plastic stickers?
    • buy the compostable plastic stickers (note: paper stickers usually have plastic reinforcements)
    • Stop stickering altogether, because what's the likelihood that someone will 'tamper' with the lip balm while it's being shipped from us to you?

CLICK HERE and enter this code LIPBALM20 at checkout if you'd like 20% of lip balm.

And here's a little video if you'd like more background.

  • I prefer no plastic of any kind – eliminate the sticker entirely!

  • Very few cities/ townships in the US offer commercial compost so probably not worth the extra cost for such a small bit, unless you sell an extraordinary amount of lip balm. But the fact that you are eliminating the plastic ftom the tube is great. What would be even better is small tin or jar, skip the plastic altogether. Right, reduce is the first R. How do you eliminate it altogether?

  • I say no sticker, or maybe a beeswax seal?

  • You don’t need to use any sticker, I think it’s safe enough in the package.

  • I know which of the companies I buy things from use compostable stickers, and I make a point of composting them. I love finding small ways to decrease the plastic in my life!
